Mission Statement
Our mission at the UBASEECAS is to provide a platform for undergraduate students at British educational institutions who are interested in the languages, cultures, and current events of Central Europe, Eastern Europe, the Caucasian states, and Central Asia. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and peaceful environment that promotes academic inquiry and discourse among all members, regardless of their main degree, academic, and/or personal background.
What we do
At the UBASEECAS, we primarily host events which are aimed at helping undergraduate students of SEECAS (Slavonic, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies). We aim to keep a balance of events which develop students academically, professionally and socially.
We strive to make everything accessible to everyone who could benefit from our work - thus our events are held in English, and are online. Our conferences, which take place annually, run on a hybrid basis.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals
The UBASEECAS is actively striving to align with the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal, Quality Education.
By providing predominately free-of-charge events to undergradutes based across the UK interested in Russophone culture, we are working towards providing education with a purpose: we want to create an environment for undergraduates to present their work, celebrate others' academic achievements, as well as provide a space for those in the field of Russophone studies to connect with each other. This allows us to bridge the gap between what is widely regarded as a niche field of study, and a welcoming, inclusive, educational environment for all.
